Assured Tasking Tutorial
Read this tutorial if you are looking for a step-by-step guide on how to create an assured tasking order, monitor its status and get data delivered from start to finish.
In this guide, you will learn how to:
- Select a contract to use for your order
- Select the assured tasking product
- Select a satellite pass for an assured tasking order
- Retrieve the price of the order and place a tasking order
- Monitor an order’s status
- Receive the data
Dashboard contract selection
The tasking flow starts with selecting a contract that provides you access to the tasking section of the SatVu platform. More information about what the contract includes is available under Accessing SatVu platform.
You can see all your available contracts on the Dashboard page. Every contract is defined by its name and unique identifier.

Please note that in order to access tasking, your contract must have at least one tasking product enabled. Speak to your SatVu contact if the “Tasking” option is not available.
Once you click on “Tasking →”, the web app opens a tasking page. From here you can choose which tasking product you want to access. You will see the selected contract on any page within the web app.
Data ordering
When you open the Tasking tab, you will see the map interface. There is an expandable sidebar which allows you to select the tasking product and set tasking order parameters. Those parameters differ for standard and assured tasking products.
The process of creating an assured tasking product consists of the following steps:
- Provide the location of the tasking order
- Select the Assured Tasking product
- Choose the satellite pass and retrieve the price
- Place an order
Providing location
Use the map to browse to the desired location of the tasking order. You can zoom in on a location by using the map tools, or search for a specific location or coordinates through the search field at the top.
Tasking orders require you to specify a point geometry. To do so, select the POI icon in the map tools and select the point on the map you wish to task for.
Selecting the Assured Tasking product
Once a POI has been placed on the map, the tasking panel will open. From here you can select the Assured Tasking product.
Please note that in order to access Assured Tasking, your contract must have the Assured Tasking product enabled. Speak to your SatVu contact if you would like to add Assured Tasking to your product selection.

Exploring available passes
Once you’ve selected the Assured Tasking product, you can see information about available passes over this area. They are grouped by a day based on the start of the estimated time frame.
Each pass has information about the estimated time frame, off-nadir angle and ground sample distance values. We also provide information about the price for the tasking order.
Please note, geometry is the only tasking parameter that you need to specify for this product. You cannot specify desired cloud coverage, off-nadir angle or ground sample distance values. Those will be set to the maximum while we will provide estimated values to them. The results might differ from the estimated values.

Order Add ons
Before placing an order, you can select some additional order parameters. The available options for each parameter is specified in your contract, with a price uplift associated with each option.
| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Licence level | Select the licence level to be associated with the order. The terms of use for each licence level are defined within the End User Licence Agreement (EULA) |
| Withhold | Select whether you wish to withhold an image from the catalog for a selected period of time |
| Order name | A user defined name to assign to the order for easy identification |

Placing an order
As soon as you click “Submit for Tasking”, the tasking order is placed. SatVu platform will deduct money from your credit limit but payment won’t be taken until an order is successfully delivered.
You can either stay on the Tasking page and place more tasking orders or check the status of your order on the Orders page.

Tracking orders and downloading data
The Orders page gives you an overview of all orders placed under a given contract. You can filter by catalog and tasking orders. Statuses are updated automatically and you can have multiple action items based on them:
- While the order has the status
Staged, you are able to cancel the order. More information is available under Tasking order. - As soon as the tasking order is fulfilled, the Download button becomes active.
The Orders page has two main views for discovering orders: list view and split view.
While the list view provides information about tasking orders and their parameters, the split view also enables exploring orders on the map. That helps locate the order and retrieve information about its status.
